FIVE gardens will be open in a remote Herefordshire village to raise money for its ancient church.

St Margaret's Church, between the Black Mountains and the River Dore and near to Ewyas Harold, is famous for its medieval rood screen.

Five villagers have decided to open their gardens to visitors to encourage people to come to the village and to raise money for the church.

It will take place on July 1 and 2 from 2pm to 6pm. Teas will be served at the church, and there will also be stalls.

Tickets, which include a map and directions, are available from the church (post code for Sat Nav HR20QW) or from any of the gardens – look out for the signs – and cost £6 each or £10 for a couple, children under 16 go free.
