THE Mansel Lacy duck and Poohstick races held on May 20 were a great success. The rain cleared and the sun shone.

Organisers welcomed visitors from Wellington, as well as other areas and everyone enjoyed the afternoon.

Indeed, someone was heard to say "This is what village life should be all about!"

The children thoroughly enjoyed decorating their poohsticks, before throwing them into the stream by the bridge and running to the other side to see whose stick appeared first, then watching them float to the finishing line.

Both children and adults bought numbered ducks and cheered them on their way along the stream, to see them caught in the net at the finish.

After the races, attendees joined Ken and Leslie King in their lovely garden by the stream, for a tea and a delicious array of cakes.

A lovely time was had by all and organisers would like to thank Ken for all his hard work in arranging the event.
