A YOUNG Farmers Club from the north of the county took home the overall prize after this year's rally.

Dilwyn Young Farmers Club was the overall winner of the Herefordshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs 2017 Rally, which was held at Hurstley Court, Kinnersley, with permission of the Thomas family.

A day of tough competition was held and Dilwyn lifted eight of the trophies available.

Sam Bright, chairman of Dilwyn YFC, said: "A great achievement and well-deserved recognition for all the effort and training put in by the members.

"Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way, especially the trainers and supporters.

"Well Done to Eardisley YFC and Teme Valley YFC for gaining second and third positions and to all the other competing clubs.

"The prestigious annual HFYFC Event is reliant on outside influence and a special recognition should go to the hosts, sponsors, advertisers and tradestands for their support and generosity."

There are a variety of competitions at the rally, including cookery, floral art, morris dancing, sheep shearing, tug of war and many more.
