WHILE the implications of Brexit may be harming some businesses, to others they are providing a boost.

And as the weakening pound makes foreign holidays more expensive, it has caused an upsurge in trade for those specialising in tourism in the region.

Discover Parks, who have sites in Shobdon, Eardisland and Presteigne, are among those taking advantage of the changes caused by the triggering of Article 50 for Brexit.

Glen Jones, the owner of Discovery Parks, said caravan holiday home buyers are appearing to cash in on a more leisurely lifestyle that's not just offering more for their British money but also leaving behind the stress of airports, security, and all the other concerns that arise crossing the UK waters.

"We've never experienced so much interest so early in the year," he said.

"Our Easter Showcase weekend received a record number enquiries from people in the region including many from this county.

"I think they're all beginning to realise that you don't have to travel miles to be away from it all.”

Hazel Preece from Kings Acre in Hereford regularly holidays at Pearl Lake in Shobdon after buying a luxury caravan on the park there and says its the best thing she's ever done. “Brexit is definitely another good reason to stay closer to home,” says Hazel, “the pound stretches a lot further here at the moment and I certainly feel safer not flying abroad anywhere during these troubled times.”
