RETIRED dentist Dr Terry Hunt and his wife Gilly must have had very few teething troubles when they tied the knot half a century ago.

Originally a Londoner, Terry, who worked as a dentist in Malvern for more than 30 years, admits he fell in love with his wife as well as her hometown, Malvern, where they married in 1967.

The couple have just returned home to Much Cowarne after a month-long dream trip to Australia to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

They met at university while they were both studying dentistry, and Gilly, a dental therapist, went on to work in Hereford, Ledbury and Leominster.

Affectionately known as 'G&T'. Gilly and Terry have two children, Sadie who lives in Australia with her husband and two children, and a son, Rupert who lives in Nash, near Tenbury Wells with his wife, Jude and their three children. For good measure, the Hunts celebrated their anniversary with their daughter and family down under and enjoyed another party on their return with their son and family back at home.

"We met through dentistry in 1964, a long, long time ago," says Gilly. "We celebrated our anniversary in Australia and then had another celebration back here!"

Terry's recipe for a happy marriage is to forget about an argument "as quickly as you can", and Gilly believes "family and grandchildren - and a bit of wine" are the best ingredients.
