WHETHER you're a historian, wedding planner, or even a prospective bride and groom, there will be a chance to see the fashions and the fads for tying the knot in Pembridge over the past 100 years.

The village's Wedding and Country Living Fayre at St Mary's Church, on the Bank Holiday weekend Sunday and Monday, May 28 and 29, promises a fascinating glimpse into weddings through the decades since the 1920s, and much more besides.

"There will be something for everyone - you don't have to be getting married to join us!" says churchwarden Gill Smith. "Whether there's a wedding or a special occasion, here is your chance." Her own wedding dress will be a part of a collection of dresses once worn by Pembridge brides over the years. The display will be staged in the church along with wedding albums and photographs harking back to each bridal couple's big day. One vintage dress which will go on show was worn by Lona (CORR) Pinches for her wedding way back in 1931 at a time when Ramsay MacDonald, the Labour Party's first Prime Minister was back at Number 10.

The church will be decorated wedding style by locally based mother and daughter team Jo and Joyce Williams of issyandbella, while other businesses based in this area will be represented as well as stalls offering gifts and a range of items for any event.

Whether there's a wedding or a special occasion in the offing, there will be plenty of inspiration for all. What's more, a special Songs of Praise onat 5pm on Sunday May 28 will feature favourite wedding hymns selected by brides and their families who were married in Pembridge Church. The service will be led by the Rev Andrew Body with organ music provided by Tim Hollinghurst.

Refreshments will be served throughout the fayre between 10.30am - 4pm.
