A MAN was rescued and taken to hospital after falling on rocks in Symonds Yat.

Emergency services were called to a 'steeply wooded area' at around 5.45pm on Saturday.

The Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) from West Midlands Ambulance Service attended, along with fire crews from Ross-on-Wye and Gloucestershire.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service implemented a rope safety system which enabled the man to be carried to an ambulance safely.

WMAS Hart tweeted that it had been a 'difficult extraction in a steeply wooded area'.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance.
