A HEREFORD singer has bagged herself a dream gig to support one of her favourite musicians on one of their tour dates.

Lucia Mills, 26, who goes by the name Lucia Nicole, will be a warm-up act for 2013 X-Factor winner Sam Bailey at her show in King’s Lynn on May 12.

It will be also be an opportunity for Lucia to perform her new single – What I Gotta Do – to the audience, following its release on Friday (May 5).

Lucia, a former Lady Hawkins’ School pupil, has been on quite a journey since her journey into the music industry began two years ago.

She said: "I released my first EP and did quite a few shows, including an industry event in London. I also performed at Lakefest last year and did quite a lot of promoting my EP.

"People seemed to like it but I wanted to do something a bit different-sounding. It was quite blocky rock-pop sounding. This is more electronic pop – I'm trying to make it sound a little bit more modern.”

Her name was put forward to support Sam Bailey by Andrew Marston, of BBC Introducing.

She said: “"I love Sam Bailey. When she was on X Factor I went to the tour just to see her.

"She has given a lot of independent artists and aspiring artists the opportunity to perform."

The video for the new single, What I gotta Do, was filmed on the beach near Borth.

Lucia, who said she would love to find new people to work with to add new sounds to her music, added: "I love it. I just keep doing it. You do get knock-backs but there are highs as well.

"It's a hobby and a passion of mine and if people enjoy listening to it then that's a bonus.

"I'm just going to continue doing what I'm doing."

The single What I Gotta Do is released on Friday, May 5 and will be available to buy on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/the-bigger-picture-ep/id1094842525?app=music%22%3EThe&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
