THE A40 in Pencraig has been re-opened following a crash this morning involving a cattle trailer.
The dual carriageway was initially closed at 10.10am on the eastbound side, heading in the direction of Ross-on-Wye. It was later closed in both directions.
A green Land Rover had ended up on its roof after overturning.
The vehicle was pulling a trailer containing three cows and three calves.
The trailer was reported as being on its side.
Police said the cows escaped onto the carriageway but were rounded up and put safely onto the back of a lorry. They have been taken to the vets.
An ambulance spokesman said they were called just after 10am.
An ambulance attended- two patients had managed to get out of the Land Rover.
They were assessed at the scene and did not require any hospital treatment.
Two fire crews from Ross-on-Wye, one from Whitchurch and an animal rescue crew from Bromyard attended.
The road was re-opened at 12.45pm.
