A CHARITY founder who has helped care for hundreds of Romanian children has passed away.

Yvonne Etheridge, aged 72, died on March 31 from cancer.

In 2001, with her husband, Arthur, they set up a Christian charity called Hope Carriers Trust.

It provides support and donations to children and also adults in Romania.

Mr Etheridge first went out to Romania in 1997 and the plight of hundreds of children led him to set up the charity with his wife.

In 2010 they opened a day centre in Osorhei, in northwestern Romania, which is used as a base to provide support and donations to those in need.

The charity also provides donations to two schools, an orphanage and to a hospice.

The couple, who lived together in Mill Street in Hereford, worshipped at Bodenham Christian Fellowship

Mrs Etheridge's funeral service will be held on April 20 at 12noon at The Salvation Army in Canonmoor Street, Hereford. At family's request, no black to be worn. Donations made at her funeral will go the charity.
