WE'VE put together a list of some of the events taking place over the Easter Holiday which might help if you're tasked with keeping the family occupied.

1 - The Gruffalo Spring Picnic at Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum, Dinmore Hill

The 'Gruffalo Spring Picnic' will take place today (Saturday, April 8).

The community event will have something for everyone with art and music workshops, live music, local food and craft stall, face painting and wildlife encounters. 

WildPlay will also be running activities including an egg hunt, woodland art and den building and there will even be a spring bake off competition too.

2 - Hampton Court Castle Gardens and Parkland, Hope-Under-Dinmore, near Leominster

From next Friday (April 14) until Sunday (April 23) there’ll be exotic animal and bird encounters – a chance to get hands on with some ‘unusual’ creatures.

They’re also running an Easter Rabbit Rainbow Trail around the gardens and grounds, as well as a craft workshop for younger visitors.

3 - Oaker Wood Leisure, near Kingsland

Easter activity days are running at the adventure centre for children aged seven to 12 on April 12, 13, 19 and 20. Those who attend will enjoy at least four different activities – ranging from zip wire, climbing, low ropes assault course, monkey challenge, capture the flag, fire making, outdoor pizza cooking and woodland krypton.

There’s also a teen paintball morning (you have to be aged 12 to 16) on Wednesday, April 19.

4 - Newbridge Farm Park, Little Marcle, near Ledbury

​​There’s plenty happening at the farm park this Easter, with children able to bottle-feed a lamb, take part in an Easter treasure hunt and visit the spring baby animals.

There’s also a new soft play area, pony and tractor rides, giant sandpit and a play barn.

5 - Wye Valley Visitor Centre, Symonds Yat West

The centre is set in the heart of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has plenty going on for all ages.

The Butterfly Zoo gives visitors a chance to see every stage of the butterfly life-cycle, as well as some of the world’s most beautiful and exotic butterflies.

There’s also a hedge puzzle which features more than 1k of hedges, a 12-hole miniature golf course.

6 - Waterworks Museum, Broomy Hill, Hereford

A children’s junk-modelling drawing and fun day will be taking place on Tuesday, April 11 at the museum which brings industrial heritage to life through massive working pumping engines telling the story of drinking water.

7 - Teme Valley and United Pack Point to Point

A fun day out for all the family, the event takes place in Brampton Bryan, near Leintwardine, on Sunday, April 9.

The first race is at 1.30pm and there will also be pony races and a hunt scurry. Entry costs £10.

8 - Herefordshire Raceway, Lower Hurst, Weobley

Booking is advisable but there’s also an opportunity to arrive and drive on the 600-metre outdoor go karting track.

9 - The Grove Golf and Bowl, Ford Bridge, Leominster

As well as the usual offer – state-of-the art bowling, food in the restaurant and golf – there’s also a free taster session on offer with a PGA golf professional.

It takes place on Saturday, April 15 between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

10 - The Send climbing centre, Ramsden Road, Rotherwas

The county's first indoor climbing centre where anybody from first-time climbers to professionals can test their skills and learn the ropes. There’s a number of climbing activities taking place throughout the holiday – and for all ages.

11 - Castle House, Castle Street, Hereford

An Easter flower workshop will be taking place at the boutique townhouse hotel.

12 - Virtual golden egg hunt, Old Market, Hereford

Hereford Times:

The free Gnomee’s Egg Hunt game takes shoppers on a quest around the centre to find golden eggs stolen by a group of gnomes, which must all be collected in order to complete the hunt.

To play, shoppers simply have to download the free app to a smartphone or tablet, and follow a trail around Old Market.

Shoppers successfully completing the egg hunt will be invited to enter into a competition for the chance to win one of a selection of prizes including children’s games, an Apple iPad Mini 2 and a Yglider Deluxe Scooter.

The game is free for all shoppers to download from Apple and Android app stores. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Old Market is also running a real-life Easter egg hunt for families on Good Friday (14th April).

Children taking part will be given a map which they will follow to collect eggs at retailers across the centre.

On completion, they will be rewarded with a large Easter egg.

13 - Easter Family Fun Day at the Hope Family Centre in Bromyard 

On Saturday, April 15 there will be an easter activity trail with basket making, chocolate nest making, Easter egg hunt and lamb feeding.

A bonnet parade will take place at 12pm.
