OVER the winter, 34 women and one gent have been taking crochet classes in Stitches in Leominster and in Weobley.

During this time they made enough squares to make three blankets to sell for Comic Relief so, on Red Nose Day, they took a stall in Corn Square, Leominster, and held a raffle for the blankets.

Although the day was cold, they were warmed by the generosity of the passers-by, who bought tickets or donated to the cause. The blankets were all won by Leominster residents - one of whom, a pupil in a crochet class, was delighted to receive a blanket made by her and her friends.

Meanwhile, in Weobley, they had a cake stall selling produce made by and donated by locals and sold to other locals.

In just a couple of hours everything had been sold. Overall, both events raised a total of £316 for Comic Relief.
