GULF war veteran Andy Herbert is once more riding for his favourite charity Help for Heroes and this time wife Claire is riding along too. Andy and Claire are taking part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride in September 2017.

In order to raise the profile and publicise the event, the husband and wife team will be at Labels Shopping, Ross-on-Wye pedalling furiously outside the store on a static turbo trainer bike on Saturday from 11am - 4pm.

Come along to support them, correctly guess the distance they will cycle on the day and win a special Help for Heroes prize.

"We are very pleased and proud to be supporting Andy and Claire in this arduous endeavour" says director of Labels, Rachel Addison.

Andy Herbert says "The Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride Group travels through France, Belgium and Holland during September 2017. This means we are now both committed to cycle approximately 350 miles each over six days riding, so we need to complete a serious amount of training. In September we will be cycling alongside 200 fellow fundraisers and members of the wounded, injured and sick military community. We have been assured that we will experience a physical and emotional challenge unlike any other.

"Starting in Lille, France, the Big Battlefield Bike Ride goes past Waterloo then follows the 1944 route of the Allied Forces through the Low Countries towards Arnhem. Throughout the trip there are opportunities to hear from the team of expert battlefield historians who will bring World War Europe to life, sharing experiences the soldiers would have faced during and post conflict. There are also daily opportunities along the route to reflect and pay our respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

"The journey ends in Arnhem at the site of Operation Market Garden where the riders will witness the annual commemoration of the parachute jump, which has come to epitomise this period of military history.

"Previously described by supporters as being "truly inspirational", the Big Battlefield Bike Ride (BBBR) provides us both with a special opportunity to be a part of the Help for Heroes family and for us to raise much needed funds for the wounded Heroes of today, and to remember the incredible sacrifices made by all those who fought so heroically in the past."
