THE Shire Hall will be the venue on Friday, April 7 for 'An Evening with Ian Storey', a fundraising concert in aid of The Music Pool, the community music charity for Herefordshire and its borders.

Ian Storey is one of the most in-demand tenors in the world in the dramatic repertoire and a renowned Tristan and Otello. His extensive repertoire covers six languages and includes the title roles in Peter Grimes, Samson, Tannhauser, Faust. He was the first - indeed the only - choice of Daniel Barenboim when casting Tristan and he sang Otello for Placido Domingo. In 2008 Ian was awarded the Doctor of Letters (DLitt) by Loughborough University, his alma mater – ‘in recognition of his outstanding contribution to opera’.

Rhiannon Davies has worked as a freelance musician and tutor since graduating from Royal Holloway, London University, where her joint first studies were piano and violin. As a pianist, Rhiannon is frequently called upon to work with instrumentalists and singers in concerts, recitals and diplomas. She enjoys playing within a variety of chamber music settings and teaches piano at Hereford Cathedral School where she is accompanist-in-residence. She is delighted to be working with Ian Storey again.

Ian will be performing selections from the world of opera and beyond, and also sharing reminiscences, insights and anecdotes in conversation with Dennis Schiavon of The Music Pool.

The concert commences at 7.30pm and takes place in the Shirehall, Hereford. Tickets are available from Helen Cotterell 07775 751122; email: helencotterell@bridgesollers.co.uk and from The Courtyard box office on 01432 340555 or courtyard.org.uk
