THE excitement of the Tour de France is brought to Hereford this March as Ventoux, performed by 2Magpies Theatre Company, re-stages the dramatic battle between Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantani in the Tour de France 2000 on Mont Ventoux. Once regarded as the greatest race in the history of cycling, we now know that both Armstrong and Pantani doped during their careers.

The careers of the athletes spiralled in wildly opposite directions after they crossed the finish line with Armstrong going on to win seven consecutive Tour de France titles whereas Pantani died of a cocaine overdose alone in a hotel room.

Ventoux re-creates this race knowing everything that we know now about the two athletes. With stunning footage of Mont Ventoux, a pair of road bikes and actual race commentary this performance will ask the audience how far we will go to succeed.

Young people aged 14 – 25 can get 10 per cent off this performance with The Courtyard Card, along with a whole host of excellent offers. Visit courtyard.org.uk/courtyardcard or contact the Box Office to sign up.

Ventoux will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre on Friday, March 24 at 8pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
