A GROUP of young Herefordshire filmmakers have been nominated for a national award.
The filmmakers – who are aged between 16 and 19 and are either supported by SHYPP or attend Close House youth project – have been nominated for their film Two Kids Lost in the ‘Best Live Action (13 and over)’ category of the Into Film Awards.
The film, made in collaboration with SHYPP’s media project, mediaSHYPP, is a modern day re-telling of the story of Hansel and Gretel where two sisters find their home life with dad and stepmother intolerable.
Rejected and removed from home they embark on a journey to discover who they really want to be. The young people were involved in all stages of the project, from coming up with the concept, writing the script, location scouting, acting, shooting, directing, editing and composing the music.
They are invited to attend a star-studded ceremony to be hosted by popular TV and radio presenter Edith Bowman at ODEON Leicester Square next Tuesday (March 14).
The awards pay tribute to outstanding young people who have shown exceptional achievements in filmmaking or film reviewing, and to educators who have demonstrated inspirational use of film in the classroom at the annual awards.
