WHAT started as a vision for two climbing enthusiasts has turned into a breathtaking reality.

Hereford now has its own indoor climbing centre where anybody from first-time climbers to professionals can test their skills and learn the ropes.

A disused warehouse off Ramsden Road, on the south side of the Rotherwas industrial estate, has been converted into a breathtaking climbing experience.

Nick Harms from Leominster is running the new venture 'The Send' with his partner Nina who are both climbing enthusiasts.

"It all looks really good and we're very pleased with it," said Co-owner Nick Harms.

"We opened just before half-term and it was rammed last week. We are now taking bookings for social groups, schools and colleges.

"We have climbing walls for everybody so come and give it a go. We will be running a lot of taster sessions so give it a go and see what it's about."

The pair came up with the idea of opening a centre after previously having to travel to a climbing wall in Deeside when the weather wasn't suitable for outdoor climbing.

The centre has been named the Send which means 'something difficult'.

"We are running a novice climbers course to teach people the skills they need to climb safely outdoors," said Nick.

"The first course is already fully booked and we plan to run a kids club."

The centre will be open seven days a week and will be open 10am until 10pm in the week, 10am to 8pm on a Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sunday.

A range of teaching courses are also available to suite all abilities.
