MORDIFORD CE Primary School held their annual Charities Week recently with students being involved ways to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charities for 2017.

This year the students have been raising money for: Project Mala, a sponsorship program allowing children to attend school - Mordiford primary have been sponsoring children in northern India, for the past seven years; the Little Princess Trust and Birmingham Children's Hospital.

During the week the school held a Global Wear What You like Day when children and staff came to school dressed in a national costume or in the colours of a flag, a beat the goalie activity held during PE lessons with the help of their sports coach, a talent show where pupils paid to show and share their talent with the rest of the school and a 1p and 2p collection challenge with the winning class receiving a prize.

The week culminated with a Charity Fair with each class responsible for their own fundraising ideas.

These ranged from serving cream teas, face painting, green screen photos, selling jewellery they had made, traditional games, cake and biscuit stall, toy and book stall, selling bird feeders and ladybird homes and much more.

The school also enjoyed visits from Wendy Tarplee-Morris from the Little Princess Trust, who told about the amazing work they do and from the Mayor of Hereford, Jim Kenyon, who talked to the children/school council about his work and the charities he supports.

The week was a resounding success and a total of £851.76 was raised.
