A CITY break to New York was not a good enough reason to take a break from running for one woman taking on her first London Marathon this year.

But Carly Weyman found the perfect place to lace up her trainers and get some training in at the city's Central Park during her visit.

The 30-year-old is raising money for the Hereford MS Therapy Centre and was joined by her mum, the centre manager Lisa Shaw, who cycled the same 13-mile route.

Mrs Shaw said: "My daughter has always been very supportive of my role by volunteering and supporting fundraising activities. In April she will be running the London Marathon for us to raise vital funds for our centre based in Mostyn Street.

"We have just returned from a long weekend in New York and due to an essential training programme she had to do a 13-mile run which she did around Central Park, whilst I cycled alongside.

"The run was great fun – we searched everywhere for Tom Hanks as we were told he often ran in central park but we didn't find him".

The Herefordshire MS Therapy Centre is an independent charity which exists to meet the personal and therapeutic needs of people with MS and many other long term chronic illnesses including stroke, cancer and fibromyalgia.
