MOUNTAIN Rescue volunteers have been applauded for their efforts in searching for a missing man who was found dead.
A body was found on Saturday in the search for David Skeen, aged 51, from Talgarth, who was reported missing on Tuesday last week.
David had been last seen leaving his home to go for a run.
Local councillor William Powell congratulated the police and mountain rescue volunteers for their efforts in finding him.
He said: "We have seen a remarkable mobilisation by Dyfed Powys Police, with unstinting support from both Brecon and Longtown Mountain Rescue teams.
"We owe a particular debt of gratitude to the mountain rescue volunteers, and to other local residents who stepped forward to assist and to share their local knowledge.
"This proved important in bringing the search operation to its conclusion.
"It is deeply sad that the mission ended up as a recovery, rather than a rescue – but their determination and hard work have brought to an end the agonising wait for Mr Skeen’s family."
