A BUZZ was brought to Kington as its annual food festival continued to grow from strength to strength.

Some 90 trade stalls from across Herefordshire and further afield attended the 12th annual festival on Saturday.

One particular vegan and vegetarian stall from Ebbw Vale caused a stir by refusing to accept the new style £5 notes. The new notes have tallow in them, a type of animal fat leading to the stall boycotting the new notes.

Father Christmas was also in attendance at the festival in an open top trailer

"It was the best yet and very well attended," said organiser Pam Peek.

"There was not a place to park in Kington. Last year the weather meant we were blown of our feet so this year people stayed around a bit longer.

"There was a general buzz to the town and Kington came alive. It's taken us 12 years to get to this size but all things take time and traders have now got the message that people come and buy here.

"We're a little market town and not a lot goes on to get people into the town. It's a free event and several other festivals nearby charge £10 which is a lot for each person."

The festival is ran by Pam and husband Martin with the help of Kington Chamber of Trade and several of the marquees are sponsored by local companies.
