A THRIVING community lunch club is looking for volunteers to breath new life into its service.

Kington Community Lunch Club - which has been running for over 40 years - has recently seen a increase in the number of people attending.

However, some of their volunteers have been working for the club for over 20 years and many have retired in recent months or are waiting to do so when new people come forward.

Anne Titley, lunch club manager said that the club are currently looking for people to help with the cooking and also people who are willing to be drivers or escorts.

She said: "The club uses a minibus kindly lent by Lady Hawkins School to collect some of the - mainly elderly - clients, many of whom have mobility problems.

"There are four teams of cooks, with drivers and escorts for each team but at present some of these have to cover more than one team.

"The clients are extremely grateful for the lunches and it really is a pleasure to provide this much needed service and have fun whilst doing so."

The lunches take place fortnightly on a Wednesday at The Parish House in Kington so the commitment is only one day every eight weeks.

If you would like to help - or to join - the lunch club please contact Anne Titley on 01544 230632 or email: titley.duncott@zen.co.uk.
