Last Saturday, Westfields bounced back from their defeat to Alvechurch by thrashing fellow Midland League Premier Division club Walsall Wood 6-0 in the first round of the FA Vase.

Westfields opened then scoring in the 15th minute when Aidan Thomas sent over a pin-point cross for Richard Greaves to race and score.

Edwards' side increased their lead when Sam Archer-Plane got clear on the left and crossed for Sirdic Grant to finish.

And it was 3-0 when Thomas cut in from the left to hit a low shot.

Thomas scored again after the break with another fine goal before new signing Nick Harrhy netted twice to seal an emphatic win.

Westfields' reward for the win is another home tie on November 15 when they entertain Central Midlands Football League side Sherwood Colliery in the second round.

"It was good get straight back with a win and the fact that we're home again in the next round makes it even better," said Westfields manager Sean Edwards.

This Saturday, Westfields return to league action with a home game against Coleshill Town.

"They're always there or thereabouts and they'll be a good side on Saturday," added Edwards.

"It was a just a blip last Tuesday – we only had Richard Greaves available out of the strikers, but fair play to Alvechurch, they deserved to win."
