A MAN smashed the window of a house after becoming frustrated that one of its occupants owed him money.

Darren Sutton, 22, of Hever Road, Lower Bullingham, Hereford, pleaded guilty to smashing the window at Bridge House on Belmont Road on October 4.

Peter Love, prosecuting at Hereford Magistrates Court on Thursday, said that the incident was caught on a security camera.

He said: "The house provides accommodation for people who come out of prison and is managed by staff 24 hours a day.

"There is CCTV in some areas overlooking the front door. On this evening the night warden was working at 11.10pm when he heard a noise at the front of the premises.

"He saw on CCTV two men walking around the front of the premises. One of the men wrapped a jacket around his hand and smashed the window before walking off."

Police officers saw the CCTV recording and recognised Sutton from past dealings. As a result of that he was arrested at a flat in Belmont Road.

Marilena Divitantonio, mitigating, said that a person who lived in Bridge House owed Sutton money.

She said: "He became frustrated that he was being ignored and the money had been owed for some time. He is currently on a supervision order and his probation work is being completed."

Magistrates ordered Sutton to pay £150 compensation for the broken window, an £80 fine, £30 victim surcharge and £50 costs.
