A MAN was caught with cannabis in his own accommodation block as police were chasing another offender.

Sean Drury, 51, of Whitecross Road, Hereford pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis at Herefordshire Magistrates Court.

Rob Perry, prosecuting, said police officers were chasing another offender through Drury's accommodation block on September 27 when they stopped and searched him as they said he was acting suspiciously.

They found a small quantity of cannabis. His last conviction was in October 2013.

Drury said: "I was in my own house at the time. These people were chased through my building."

Magistrates said he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and detained him in court until 2.45pm before releasing him.
