NINE organisations in the county have been awarded more than £86,000 worth of lottery funding for projects in the community.

Money has been awarded to organisations ranging from schools to parish councils and churches through the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All.

St Mary's CE Primary School in Credenhill has received £10,000 to install new and inclusive play equipment on the school grounds for use during before and after school clubs.

Meanwhile, £9,093 will go to Fownhope New Memorial Hall to refurbish its bar and kitchen area which is currently unfit for purpose.

The Brookfield School in Hereford will get £9,995 to install a climbing tower and a safety surface in the school playground.

It will provide additional opportunities for physical outdoor play, leading to improved strength, coordination and development for pupils with SEN and other diverse needs.

Kington-based Mermaids will take £10,000 to extend its provision of residential weekends to deal with the increase in demand for its services to support families dealing with gender identity issues.

Improved access will also be made to the Church of St Thomas a Becket in Huntington which will receive £9,500 to install a compost toilet and lighting.

Weston-Under-Penyard Parish Council gets £8,947 to install four community public access defibrillators and provide awareness sessions and training. This will provide life-saving equipment to the community, and will increase awareness of health issues.

A £10,000 fund will go to Ross-on-Wye and District Community Association to install roof insulation and replace lighting within its community building to make it more energy efficient and provide a fit for purpose environment for community groups.

The Friends of Castle Green CIC will get £10,000 to run a series of engagement events to establish a plan for the future of the pavilion and green near Hereford Castle.

It is hoped this will strengthen community cohesion and ownership of the site, ensuring that service users of all generations will contribute to its sustainability.

Finally, Orcop Parish Council get £9,412 to refurbish the village hall’s kitchen.
