A NORTH Herefordshire supplier of renewable energy equipment is to showcase its new premises as part of h.Energy week.

Wind & Sun, a leading distributor of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and products, will be holding a public open day on Friday October 14 from 10am until 4.30 pm at their new ‘Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence’ in Upper Hill, near Leominster.

Located at the well-known premises formerly occupied by Shepherds Stores, building conversion work was completed earlier this year and was supported by the European Regional Growth Fund through a Redundant Building Grant.

The event will give visitors a chance to speak to local installers, get recommendations for projects, see the latest products, speak to resident technical experts and join in an ‘off-grid basics’ workshop during the afternoon.

Managing Director Steve Wade said: “The solar industry and our business continues to grows and we needed to expand from our existing base near Stoke Prior.

“We had begun seeking more space outside the county, so are very pleased with the new site as it has enabled us to establish a unique local resource for our industry.

“After 18 successful years in Herefordshire, I’m delighted we have been able to take steps to ensure our premises can continue to grow with us.”

In addition to warehousing, offices and trade counter the new state of the art ‘training academy’ offers a programme of regular courses. The site boasts the UK’s largest renewable energy showroom, on-site technical support and free electric vehicle charging.

“The refurbishment incorporates rain water harvesting, wood chip heating, energy efficient LED lighting and solar electricity systems to enable virtual self-sufficiency while soft landscaping is encouraging the return of wildlife," added Melvyn Bakewell, Wind & Sun's warehouse logistics manager.

So far this year, goods have been despatched around the world to destinations from the Falkland Islands to villages in Africa and Sri Lanka.
