THIS year the Old Railway Line Garden Centre in Three Cocks, between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, joined celebrity TV gardener, David Domoney's efforts to encourage community gardening and brighten up the streets of the UK.

Manager, Huw Lewis said "This year we really enjoyed promoting the national Cultivation Street campaign alongside our own Local Doorstep Challenge. We had a great response from the community; with lots of people asking for advice and entering our competition.

"We are delighted to announce that the winner of our Local Doorstep Challenge was Joanne Hodgson, from Talgarth, who has been awarded a £100 garden centre voucher. She did a fantastic job of transforming the front of her home into an attractive space full of colour.

"We are also delighted that our own, Katie Eckley was awarded 3rd place by David Domoney in the national Ambassador of the Year Cultivation Street competition; highlighting Katie and the team's hard work encouraging locals to take part."

Celebrity TV gardener, David Domoney said "Katie has shown a clever and innovative approach to helping schools and communities, not only existing ones but also supporting projects starting up for the first time. She has made her garden centre proud."
