WORKS to improve a busy junction on a polluted Leominster road begin today.

The works on Bargates include the installation of new traffic signal equipment with signalised pedestrian crossings, footway improvements and carriageway resurfacing.

It will be carried out in four phases and will require the closure of West Street during phase one of the work and two night closures of Barons Cross Road, Cursneh Road and Dishley Street for resurfacing of the carriageway.

It is hoped the improvements will go some way to helping to reduce pollution on congested road.

The works are expected to be completed by November 2.
