TWO children who were left fighting for their lives following a car crash in Leominster are raising money for the hospital that nursed them back to health.

Aged just one and six, Ava and Lucas Badham were seriously injured and flown to Birmingham Children's Hospital following the crash which happened near to Barons Cross in May 2014.

Their mother, Kerrie English, and grandfather, Thomas Badham, were also seriously injured and airlifted to Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital while their father, Shane Badham, was taken to Hereford County Hospital.

Neither Miss English or her son were expected to survive the crash and when Lucas eventually came round, he had to be taught many things from scratch – such as eating and walking – and will continue to need ongoing support for his brain injury.

Fortunately, the whole family are still here today and to thank the medical teams who helped them, Lucas, now nine, and Ava, now three, are taking part in the Great Mini Run to raise money for the children's hospital.

Miss English said: "We're very proud of them for doing it.

"Lucas took part last year as Ava wasn't old enough but we will be stood at that finish line this year watching them both run towards us and raising money for such a fantastic hospital.

"All the family are very proud of them."

The Great Mini Run will see both children complete the 1.5km course and the children hope to raise around £250.
