A CANCER sufferer has thanked her local community for coming together and helping to raise over £1,300 for three charities.

Linda Brown of Kington hosted a coffee morning with the help of her friends and was left amazed when 70 people attended.

The event raised money for charities helping people who suffer from cancers myeloma, lymphoma and leukeamia

Last weekend the community rallied around the 55-year-old former home carer who is suffering from myeloma.

"It was brilliant and I can't believe how excellent local people are," said Linda.

"The amount of effort my friends put in and the amount of local people and businesses who helped is just unbelievable.

"I suffer myeloma which I really wish would go away. I have had eight different chemotherapy treatments since April 2015 and I'm on one at the moment.

"There is one more they can try after this but after that I don't know what."

Linda has also received support from the Hereford branch of the myeloma support network.

Her friend Tracy Price hosted the event in her garden and was amazed at how many people attended.

She said: "We have had such a huge amount of support that my garden, which is a normal size housing estate garden, had about 70 people in it.

"All the raffle prizes, cakes, tea, coffee and anything else we needed were donated by most of the shops, businesses and people of Kington who really pulled together.

"We are all blown away by the support shown and the generosity of people and would like to publicly thank everyone involved."
