A RURAL community which lost its post office in June could see an outreach service running from its village hall.

Clyro Post Office closed in Bridge Stores following the resignation of its postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for post office use.

The proposed outreach service will be run on Tuesdays between 10am to 12pm and Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm.

The new service in Clyro Village Hall is proposed to be located 500 metres from the former branch.

It would be operated by the postmaster from Newbridge-on-Wye Post Office and would provide the same services as previously.

Customers can still collect benefits in cash using everyday banking services or Post Office card account.

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six week public consultation.

Gaynor Davies, Field Change Advisor said: “We are confident that this Hosted Outreach Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

"This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

During the public consultation, the Post Office welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.

The consultation will close on September 30.

Submissions can be made during the consultation by email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the customer helpline on 03457 223344 or textphone on 03457 223355.

Alternatively customers can also share their views online through the quick and easy questionnaire at: www.postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 28761199.
