A STATE-of-the-art specialist care and respite centre for children with autism is set to open in Presteigne creating 200 jobs.

Summergil House is set to open in the autumn providing education and care for up to 30 children and young people in their school and residential service, as well as further respite places.

The 18-acre site in Presteigne will be the Orbis Education and Care's largest service to date.

Chief Executive Mike Currier said: "Autism spectrum condition affects individuals differently and many have complex needs that require a certain level of specialised care and support.

"There is no one-size-fits-all solution. At Orbis we believe that every person with autism has the potential to lead a richly fulfilling life and it's a privilege to play a positive role in supporting them and their families.

"Our new services will give local authorities more options and help to ensure that more children and young people can access a level of care that matches their specific level of need."

Orbis is inviting applications across a range of roles including learning support assistants and teachers as well as kitchen staff, housekeepers, administrators, residential support workers, team leaders and supervisors. Candidates will be invited to attend recruitment days taking place during August.

An open day will be held September 28, for health, education and social care professionals to have a look around and meet the team.

Also on this day, families and the wider public will be invited to network with local support organisations, who in turn will be invited to exhibit.

Prospective employees will also be able to meet their HR team and find out more about career opportunities.
