MORE than £6,000 has been raised for good causes across the county by Hereford Round Table.

The organisation celebrated the mammoth fundraising effort at its ball at Broadfield Court, near Leominster.

The event was a celebration of all things Shakespeare and more than 150 guests enjoyed champagne on the lawn whilst being treated to period music performed by The Kings Waits, and a performance of scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by members of the Courtyard’s Youth Theatre Group.

Andy Banks, chairman of Hereford Round Table, said: "We have raised more than £6,000 for local charitable causes which was made possible through the generosity of our invited guests and local businesses who donated an array of auction prizes.

"My thanks go out to all of those people who have supported us."

The culmination of the evening was the auction, including a competition between bidders to own two giant plastic cows, which raised £1,400.

Overall the auction raised more than £5,000 and the money will be donated to local charities and good causes.
