STAFF at a Hereford company who supply wheelchairs for disabled children are set to push a client around a marathon while raising money for charity.

Chunc Wheelchairs which is based at the Rotherwas Industrial Estate provide posture and wheelchair equipment for children and young people.

To raise awareness of providing posturally correct mobility equipment for profoundly disabled children seven staff are set to run Brighton Marathon next year while raising money for Action for Kids.

As part of the challenge they will be pushing a profoundly disabled child over the 26 miles route.

The team of Tom Suddaby, Tanya Powell, Stuart Dalton, Matt Keogh, Craig Adams, David Willis and Richard Dawe will also complete the Parallel London 2016 in preparation for the event.

Design manager at Chunc Tom Suddaby said that the team have set themselves a target of raising £3,500 over the two events.

He said: “My original idea was that we wanted to run the London Marathon but we couldn't get in.

“Action for Kids suggested that we chose marathon as we wanted to push one of our clients. So there will be seven of us pushing one wheelchair which weighs 75 kilogrammes in total.

"We have been training by running in our lunch breaks. In preparation for the marathon we will be running Parallel London in September which is 10 kilometers long and the route runs alongside the Olympic Park.

“That will be the first time we have pushed the chair around while racing.

“We will also be doing other things to raise money over the next few months including holding a car boot sale."
