THE Hereford String Orchestra will be giving its summer concert in Leominster Priory on Saturday, June 25 at 7.30pm.

This is a full symphony concert with all the orchestra's associate woodwind, brass and percussion members. The major work to be performed will be Saint-Saens Symphony No 3, nicknamed 'the organ symphony' because of the prominent part for organ and chosen to help celebrate the restoration of the wonderful Priory organ.

The programme includes two other pieces by French composters - the Petite Suite by Debussy and the Nuits d'Ete by Berlioz, the latter a beautiful suite of songs for mezzo-soprano and orchestra. The soloist will be the distinguished mezzo-soprano Catherine King.

The orchestra will be led by Christine Lenton and the conductor will be Roland Melia.
