FOUR friends with disabilities raised more than £3,500 for a charity which supported a Leominster man.
Kim Powell, Paul Fletcher, Nicky Jenkins and Sally-Anne Lewis all swam 16 lengths each – a mile in total – at Leominster's swimming pool in aid of the Marie Curie nurses.
Miss Powell, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, came up with the fundraising idea in memory of her uncle, Derek Tisdale, who died in 2014 aged 56.
The group thanked Halo for allowing the swimmers to the use the pool as well as Richard Brookman, Leominster's town crier for attending the event.
"We would like to give a massive thank you to all those who helped in raising money for this good cause –Yvonne Torrode, Pamela Newman, Tracy Jones, Peter Gallimore, Tom Egerton, Julia Evans, Mark Townsend, Sally Townsend and Lynne Nicholas," they said.
"Also a huge thank you to the two helpers, Cath Baker and Suzanne Hill, who swam alongside the fundraisers."
They added their thanks to all those who donated to help take the total to £3,550.
It means Miss Powell and her family have raised more than £20,000 for good causes through a range of fundraising activities over the years.
