SHOW off your creative writing skills in a new competition to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

The Herefordshire Lieutenancy is holding a writing competition for anyone aged eight and over and entries will be judged by journalist and theatre critic Quentin Letts.

Entrants need to create a piece of writing or poem of between 90 and 900 words based on an interview with someone who is 90-years-old (or more) this year.

The work could describe the dramatic changes experienced during their lifetime or the joys and sorrows they have faced.

The person interviewed can be a relative, friend or a member of the community.

Other prizes include West Midland Safari Park tickets, book vouchers and vouchers for family meals at Nandos.

Prizes will be presented by the Lord Lieutenant on Saturday, June 11 at a tea following the service at Hereford Cathedral to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

The competition is open until midnight on May 20. For full details visit www.herefordshire.gov.uk/hmq90/competition.
