LUXURY flats which are being built on the riverside in Hereford were broken into and two floors covered with graffiti.

Paul Tobin, of Riverside Construction (Hereford), gained planning permission to build the 18 luxury apartments at the site where the Campions restaurant once stood.

On Sunday he arrived at the site off Greyfriars Avenue to discover graffiti had been plastered across the third and fifth floor in five apartments.

Mr Tobin said: "They have sprayed the walls and sprayed the windows. "They had written things like 'Good luck cleaning.'"

He reported it to the police on Sunday and they believe it happened the previous evening at around 9.30pm.

Mr Tobin said they have now installed four CCTV cameras which are being monitored 24/7.

Police said there is currently not enough evidence or lines of enquiry to support investigations into the matter.

Mr Tobin is offering a reward of £100 for information about who did the graffiti and can be contacted at riversideconstruction@aol.co.uk.

Police are asking for anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity or have information that can help to identifying the suspects involved to call 101 quoting 0286s of Sunday 10 April 2016.

Building started at the site next to Greyfriars Bridge last June and Mr Tobin hopes it will be finished by the summer.

They have sold nine of the 18 apartments which will be in a gated community.
