REAL ale fans got their fill when pubs on either side of Offa’s Dyke came together for a new event on the county’s cultural calendar.

The inaugural Kington and Radnor cross Beer festival saw six venues come together to promote the region over the Easter weekend.

Representing the Herefordshire town were the Olde Tavern, Oxford Arms, Swan on the Square and Royal Oak, while the Radnor Arms and the Fforest Inn at Llanfiange-Nant-Melan were the Welsh participants.

Many visitors worked up a thirst by joining a guided five-and-a-half mile walk on Saturday across hilly terrain.

The trek formed part of the weekend, which organisers hoped would show how accessible the region’s beauty and beer is – even on public transport.

The 461 service, which runs from Hereford to Llandrindod Wells almost hourly throughout the day, bussed in many of the visitors over the weekend.
