A COUNTY pre-school is celebrating after once again being rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted.

Inspectors visited Staunton-on-Wye pre-school in January and gave the rating to all four categories – effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching and learning and assessment, personal development and behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children.

The report, released this week, praised staff for being expert teachers and said that children make excellent progress.

It also said the environment at the preschool was welcoming, bright and stimulating and that the curriculum provided is interesting and exciting.

In a statement the pre-school said staff were thrilled to receive another outstanding Ofsted report.

"This really demonstrates the commitment of staff, committee, parents and of course the children," the statement said.

"The inspection recognises the drive of our leaders and managers, the quality of teaching by all staff and the excellent progress children make, stating that 'children thrive because their physical and emotional well-being are incredibly well promoted.'

"The inspector noted that children in our care are consistently motivated to take part and inspired to learn.

"We provide a stimulating and happy environment with a challenging curriculum that ensures individual children's needs are met and equips them with the key skills needed for school."
