As residents of the west end of Ginhall Lane, we completely agree with Ms Boone's observations on the speed of cars using the lane, (Road speeds are a worry, readers' times January 21), and that there is a real risk of a serious accident unless action is taken.

Since the introduction of the 40 and 30 mph limits along the Cholstrey Road we have seen a rise in both numbers of cars using the lane as a rat run to the Ludlow Road and Bargates, and an increase of speed as there is NO speed limit along the lane until the 30mph zone at the eastern end.

Perhaps if there was some police enforcement of the speed limits in place and the illegal turns made at the top of Green Lane, it would help to reduce the problem. We are particularly concerned as there is a proposal for 35 new houses at the western end of the lane without any upgrade to the roads which will serve the residents, which will no doubt increase the potential danger to all.
