THOUSANDS of visitors braved strong winds to descend on Kington for the town's annual food and drink festival on Saturday.

A total of 78 stalls lined the streets to offer a wide range of tasty goods to those who made the trip to the eleventh Kington Food and Drink Festival.

And despite blustery weather, organiser Pam Peek said the event was once again very well attended.

"Mid-morning it was heaving, there was a lovely bustle in the town," she said.

"I think everybody enjoyed it. It's what we want – people to come into Kington and enjoy the traders.

"We are trying to keep Kington on the map. There was a nice good feeling in the town. Everybody seemed to be happy. Choirs were singing, bands were playing."

Stalls included Herefordshire bakers, chocolatiers, preserves, wine, French goods and cured meats.

There was also a cookery shop, a wine tasting competition and the coveted the Real Ale challenge trophy.

The festival started with 18 traders and had continued to grow each year with around 3,000 people descending on the town last year.
