PIGS - 134: A larger entry of 134 pigs entered with a very broad spectrum in quality and a very selective trade. 16 sows offered and ranged from £60 to £122, 10 boars ranged from £40-£86. White cutters topped at £90, quality Gloucester Old Spot gilts topped at £101. Porkers made from £60 -£64. Coloured stores and weaners met with a harder trade with poorer shaped coloured weaners/stores being harder to sell. Quality white weaners made from £23-£26.

Weaners white from £23 to £26, weaners coloured from £5 to £15, stores coloured from £15 to £20, porkers white from £60 to £64, porkers coloured from £65 to £66, cutters white from £70 to £90, cutters coloured from £74 to £101, feeding sows from £60 to £86, fat sows from £90 to £122, boars from £40 to £86.

Store cattle - 484: Another excellent entry sold to a firm trade which strengthened throughout the sale. Best cattle sold to a premium with keeping cattle keenest demand. Stronger steers sold to £1200 for 19 month Simmental crosses with several from £1000 to £1120. Younger cattle sold to most interest with steers, six to 11 months from £670 to £1085 (225p-265p/kg).
Heifers met better interest selling to £1170 for an 18 month Limousin cross.
Customers looking for heifers to bull as well as finish ensured many sold from £750 to £985. Stronger sorts ranged from £830 to £1140. Forward cattle benefit from being farm assured. Younger heifers were keenly competed for with many four to 11 months from £400 to £820.
32 feeding bulls included many out of spec, either 17/19 month or dairy types they sold to £750 for a 10 month Angus. Catching the eye were four month Welsh Black cross, they sold at £520, others from £175 Friesians and £730 beef bred.
The large entry of 38 beef type cows/heifers in or with calves met great interest topping at £2080 for a pure Limousin heifer with her seven month Limousin heifer. Two pedigree Limousin heifers with six month bull calves sold at £1950 and £1900. Another draft to catch the eye were three quarter Limousin 2nd and 3rd calvers with six week old Blonde calves - they topped at £2000, also selling at £1920 and £1900. A strong Blue cow (2008) and her Blue steer calf sold to £1750. The draft of 16 black Hereford cross young cows with their four to seven week old Hereford cross calves sold well from all making from £1040 to £1320. Others ranged from £570 to £1100 with virtually all being sold. A well bred Limousin bull at 32 months sold to competition making £1700.
21 barren cows sold well with meaty sorts to best demand from £750 to £970. Plainer sorts from £480 to £650. Holsteins depending on meat from £400 to £885. Total clearance effected.
