DESPITE shops opening from 5am Hereford residents had a ‘Black Friday’ lie in with the city deserted compared to last year’s queues.
Game saw a big crowd of shoppers queuing for the best offers last year but staff said that only two people were brave enough to await its 5am opening this year.
Other shops opened as early as 6am but there was no big queues awaiting their ‘Black Friday’ deals as the city went about its business as usual.
Tesco supermarket in Bewell Street was one of a host of stores who have elected not to participate in American tradition.
Store manager Steve Winfield said: “We’re not doing Black Friday but instead doing some manager deals.”
