MORE than 100 people attended a Hereford college's apprenticeship awards.

Guest speaker Frank Myers MBE, chairman of the Herefordshire Business Board, shared his professional experiences with the award-winning apprentices at Herefordshire and Ludlow College.

The evening is held to give recognition to students who have demonstrated determination and drive throughout their programmes.

The apprentices attended along with their employers, families, friends and college staff to celebrate their achievements across both intermediate and advanced apprenticeship programmes including Agriculture, Business, Construction and Catering through to Forestry, Motor Vehicle and Welding.

Awards were given to those achieving high standards throughout the year and also to students who have made significant progress and achievements whilst working towards the successful completion of their courses.

College principal, Ian Peake, said: "The event this evening has been splendid and I am delighted that our guest speaker, Frank Myers MBE could join the celebrations.

"Apprentices continue to play a vital role in local businesses and I am very proud of all of our award winners.”

In his address, Mr Myers emphasised the importance of celebrating achievement but also reflected on the role of apprenticeships becoming increasingly important in the future of British businesses.

He closed by asking the apprentices to ask themselves ‘what will success look like?’ and encouraged them to think about the steps they would need to get there.
