A HEREFORD woman who has a marathon challenge ahead of her is looking to the community for support.

Sophie Jenkins, from Whitecross, is currently training to take part in next year's London Marathon.

The 29-year-old will be raising money for the Stroke Association which is a cause close to her heart as she works for the county's community stroke rehabilitation team.

She said: "Raising some awareness around strokes and doing fundraising for the Stroke Association is quite meaningful to me.

"I have always had this intention that I wanted to run a marathon and this April is the last one before I turn 30.

"It's going to be a huge personal challenge. I'm terribly clumsy and I've never run a marathon before."

Mrs Jenkins has to raise £2,000 to take part in the event and is currently seeking sponsorship and prizes for a raffle she is holding at a fundraising event next year.

The Monte Carlo charity ball is lined up for the Left Bank next March.

Anyone who can help with sponsorship or raffle donations can email Mrs Jenkins on mrssophiejjenkins@gmail.com
