A DRIVER who climbed into the back of his car when stopped by police has pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Ashley McNinch, 25 of Lon Y Coed, Brecon was stopped on October 24 at 12.40am in Attwood Lane in Hereford, following information received that he was over the drink-drive limit.

Hereford Magistrates' Court heard that McNinch had two previous convictions for driving with excess alcohol within the last ten years.

When police stopped the car he was driving, which had three other passengers, he climbed into the back, before admitting he was the driver but refused to be tested for drink-driving.

A probation report said he had a problem with alcohol. Sentencing was adjourned until December 4, so he can be assessed for an alcohol treatment requirement.
