POLICE officers are trying to work out how a man sustained significant injuries after leaving a pub and believe he may have been involved in a hit and run.

A man in his 50s was found at around 11.30pm off Widemarsh Street in Hereford on Sunday, October 4 near to the back entrance to Merton Meadow car park.

He was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

Officers are investigating the possibility that he was involved in a collision.

Investigating officer PC Jane Price said: "We know the gentleman left the Exchange public house on Widemarsh Street shortly after 11pm.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of the pub and the area where he was found."

Anyone who saw the man or may have information on how he sustained his injuries should call police on the non-emergency 101 number quoting incident reference number 699s of 4th October.
