RUGBY players will come together in union in a match organised by the family of one former player who is suffering from terminal cancer.

Estate Agent Ben Winson hopes the game at Luctonians will boost the coffers of MacMillan Cancer Support.

The 36-year-old from Kingsland, who used to play for Whitchurch Rugby Club, was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and, with the support of his wife, Claire, has arranged the match for Saturday, November 14.

Kick-off is scheduled for 1pm and the match between the Golden Orioles and an invitation side from Whitchurch will be followed by a silent auction.

Mr Winson's work colleagues from the Ludlow office of Strutt and Parker have pledged their support and hope a large crowd will attend the match.

"Ben has worked for us for many years and is suffering from terminal cancer," said Strutt and Parker's Hayley Davies.

"Rugby has always been one of Ben's greatest passions, so he together with some great friends have organised the charity match.

"All those at Strutt and Parker very much hope that there will be a great turnout on the day to support not only a great charity but a wonderful man who has given so much to the local community."
